Cascade

by Die Wolke art group

Vitruvian Thing, Ptolemaeon 29A, 4th floor, 54630, Thessaloniki

Die Wolke art group and Vitruvian Thing present a new production titled Cascade. Three performers and four musicians collaborate on Vitruvian Thing’s stage on the basis of a succession system:

CASCADE: something arranged or occurring in a series or in a succession of stages so that each stage derives from or acts upon the product of the preceding.

The performance employs three original musical compositions:

  • Dimitris Dalezis“Throb of Machinery part A” for trumpet and concrète sampling
  • Semeli Tagara’s “Isospin” for voice and saxophone with looping technique
  • A two-part work by Dani Joss for bass clarinet and electronics, “Control” from the soundtrack of the short dance film Imago Ep.II: Symmetry, and a new composition with the name “Conform”, both to be performed live by Thanos Sideris

The choreography and performance by Sofia Papanikandrou, Maria Pisiou, and Drosia Triantaki arrange motion and use of space on the music, while distinct divisions and performer/musician pairings become increasingly more complicated and interdependent. Whilst thusly incorporating the unavoidable improvisational elements, an indirect commentary of the uncertainty that results from complex systems is elaborated, both structurally and qualitatively.

Αdmittance by unspecified contribution policy

At Vitruvian Thing, we acknowledge the difficult financial circumstances of this period. So, unless otherwise noted, admittance to the events we host entails an unspecified amount: you decide how much the ticket should be and, in doing so, you are supporting the artists and helping Die Wolke keep the venue running. At the entrance, we issue donation coupons to acknowledge your contribution, equivalent to receipts, as required by law.

So, upon arrival at Vitruvian Thing and checking in at the welcome desk, you can choose your own price of admission: literally as much as you think is just right for you. You receive your coupon, and enjoy the show.
